Remote control Helicopter and transmitter?

I got a T-Rex 450X RC Helicopter for Christmas. I need to buy a six channel transmitter to control the Heli. Will ANY six channel remote work, or do I need to buy from a certain stock?

I have never flown RC before so I know NOTHING about this hobby. What transmitter do you recommend?

I would recommend JR radio products for ease of use and reliability.

You will need a receiver, even if your copter came with one i suggest replacing it with a JR…this one is actually recommended for your T-Rex model

You will also need a transmitter…like this one

The TRex is a very capable 3-D heli, and isn’t really for beginners. You really, really should get someone local that flies to help you, or it’s going to cost you a lot to learn. Each crash is going to set you back 40-200 bucks, depending on how hard you prang it. I fly the same heli.

JR makes a fine radio, and they have a nice set of servo’s specifically for that heli. I use their servo set with a hitec optic 6 transmitter. I would HIGHLY recommend you find an instructor before buying a radio, so you can get the same brand he has and use a buddy cord for training. It will save you a lot of heartache. Here is the servo set I use.

helifreak has a good set of videos to help with the setup:

I’m not sure if your kit came with motor and ESC. The align 430xl motor and 35 amp esc are perfectly fine for that heli. But let me say once again, YOU WILL SPEND A TON OF MONEY teaching yourself to fly. Start here and find a local club in your area:

Or check with a local hobby shop. A flight sim is worth every penny and then some to help you practice. Realflight at towerhobbies is a good sim, or you can get started with FMS if you want a free solution to start with. There are packages for 20 bucks on thEbay that sell you a cord to connect your own transmitter to your computer, which is a good way to go. Also try rcuniverse and get in one of the heli threads. GOOD LUCK, and welcome to the hobby.
