RC question?

I have an old remote control fire engine. I would like to give it to my son. The problem is, it has a tethered remote control. Is there a way to convert it to a ? Would a hobby shop be my best bet? I'm stuck. Please help.

It could be done, but you’d have to know a little about electronics. I’d recommend find a nearby school (high school, community college) that teaches electronics and ask if any students or faculty will do it as a project. If they say no, you’re out of luck.

Could probably be done. With today’s radio control, mini servos and modern battery packs almost anything is possible. Yes your hobby shop should be able to advise. One you know preferably just in case they just want to sell you loads of gear. A possible way to get all the radio linkages and various bits might be to purchase a cheap radio control car or buggy and cannibalise it. As you said shop and not store I am guessing you are in UK. Please make sure the radio you buy is the correct frequency for land based models. Don’t be tempted to buy second hand aircraft gear, it could cause havoc with model aircraft flyers and even cause a nasty crash or accident. Best of luck with your project.
